Who develops these materials?

picHelen Barron is the “thinker-upper” and writer. She invites parents of young children, educators, clergy, and grandparents, to brainstorm with her: what do families want and what will make the booklets we produce easy to follow and engaging to the parents and to the children?

Helen, who lives in Denver, was one of the founders of Living the Good News, the curriculum used by a significant portion of the Episcopal Church and several other denominations. That role took her all over the United States and Canada offering workshops that invited clergy and teachers into the Living the Good News way of doing faith formation. She continues to provide workshops and consulting and served as the Province VI representative to ECCE: The Episcopal Council on Christian Education. An Episcopalian since college days, Helen has three grown daughters and five grandchildren. She started Candle Press in the fall of 1996.

Victoria Bergesen has illustrated most of the booklets, bringing her skill as a graphic designer, her years as a Christian Educator, and the insights gained while serving, with her husband, an Episcopal priest, in Latin America. She has the amazing ability to take the most complex theological concept and draw it so all of us can enter in. Victoria has two grown sons and two grandchildren.
